Len Lye's Wind Wand

On the way home we visited Len Lye's "Wind Wand" down on the waterfront and here it is:-

The after the Lions we came across these statues up at the corner of a building:-

In the third space was this "loop" of stainless steel. It was n't moving when we first got there but the attendant said that it would start soon so we waited and here is the result:-

Len Lye's "Fountains"

Here are Len Lye's "Fountains" inside the museum. Facinating to watch!

That afternoon we went to visit the Len Lye Museum. The exterior is absolutely stunning!

Maui

From the motel we could see the Maui platform in the distance:-

After a beautiful drive further on down the coast we eventually arrived at our motel at Waitara:


It had a great view out over the coast:



Mount Taranaki

On the drive from Mokau we caught a glimpse of Mount Taranaki, the iconic symbol for the district:-


We're Off!

On Sunday morning at 9:30 we loaded up the van and set off for a night in New Plymouth to visit the Len Lye Museum.
On the way we stopped at Mokau Beach to have a look at the sea:-
